Just up the street from the Cottage and centered in the village of New Harbor, Harbor Ice Cream & Cafe on the Hill offers Maine-made Gifford’s ice cream and Monhegan Roasters coffee, as well as bagel sandwiches, donuts and coffee rolls, which you can enjoy on their delighfully lit outdoor sitting area. It's the perfect place to relax before or after a day of exploring the Pemaquid Lighthouse and beach among other local attractions.
Trips to Monhegan Island, Puffin and Seal watches as well as private charters are just a few of the cruises that are available. When you return, enjoy some local food at the restaurant.

Enjoy a variety of short distance trails with a mostly forested canopy of red oak, red maple, red spruce, white birch and white pine. An wildlife habitat is found throughout the preserve as well as a vibrant vernal pool along side the trail. These trails lead to the rocky coastline of the preserve, which provides panoramic views of outer Muscongus Bay and the islands.

A short drive down the street, the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is a must-see attraction. Check out the Fisherman's Museum in the Keeper's House, The Pemaquid Art Gallery and Learning Center. There is a $3.00/person (12 and over) admission fee. Children 5-11: $1, Children 4 and under are free.
Just a short drive down the street from the Cottage, Maine Kayak offers sea and lake kayaking trips, whitewater kayaking instruction, and kayak and SUP rentals in Maine.
Learn MoreBuilt in 1692, Fort William Henry is located near Pemaquid Harbor and stands in a large rectangular area that's defined by low stone walls and a tall singular stone tower. You can also visit the Fort House, which is a restored Federal-style home dating back to 1790 and contains a research library, archaeology lab, interpretive information and artifact storage from the many archaeological digs that have been conducted at Pemaquid.
